Hiking Morne Seychellois National Park: What to Know
October 6, 2026
Morne Seychellois National Park covers roughly a fifth of Mahé, including the island's highest peak, Morne Seychellois itself, at around 905 metres. It's mostly dense, hilly rainforest, and the roads and trails through it are some of the most scenic on the island.
Mission Lodge Viewpoint
A short, easy walk from the road leads to Mission Lodge, a panoramic viewpoint over Mahé's west coast and the islands offshore. It's one of the most accessible viewpoints in the park (no serious hiking required) and a popular spot for photos, especially later in the afternoon.
Sans Souci road and viewpoints
The Sans Souci road winds through the park connecting Victoria to Port Glaud on the west coast, with several pull-offs along the way giving sweeping views over the forest canopy and the ocean beyond. It's a worthwhile scenic drive even without stopping to walk any trails.
Trail difficulty and what to bring
Trails in the park range from short, paved walkways like Mission Lodge to longer forest hikes that can get muddy and humid, especially outside the drier months. Bring water, sun protection, and shoes with real grip: the terrain is steeper and more uneven than it looks from photos.
Our take
The park rewards a guided visit: a lot of the best viewpoints and trailheads aren't obvious from the main road, and timing matters for both weather and light. Our Morne Seychellois Nature Walk is built around the park's highlights without requiring a serious hike, good for anyone who wants the views without the full trek.
